HARDWARE LAB 

Objective of Lab:The main objective of the lab is to provide the students the knowledge of computer hardware, the processors, memories, motherboards, different add-on cards, and other peripherals like printers, plotters and the scanners. The students are trained for the assembly and disassembly of PCs. Another important objective is to impart knowledge about the troubleshooting and fault finding the computers and the peripherals./td>Capabilities of the Lab: The Hardware and Maintenance Lab is used by the students to give the training/knowledge regarding the: Different hardware components of a computer and their troubleshooting. AI-NLP-ML(Elsevier / SushruteZDI Sponsored Lab) 

Objective of Lab: The Artificial Intelligence-Natural Language Processing-Machine Learning (AI-NLP-ML)group at IIT Patna has started its official journey in June, 2015. The group is dedicated to explore the frontiers of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing under the able guidance of Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya. The group also consists of other two faculty members, Dr. Asif Ekbal and Dr. Sriparna Saha, and around 20 members including research scholars, research engineers, lexicographers, B.Tech & M.Tech students. Several industry sponsored projects are currently being undertaken. Elsevier, the renowned scientific literature publishing company has set up the Elsevier Centre of Excellence for Natural Language Processing to conduct research and development in some of the novel areas of AI, NLP and ML. Another company, ezDI has set up the Sushrut-eZDI Research Lab on Health Informatics, which is dedicated towards developing products for health care and contribute to research having significant outcomes. The specific research areas in which the group is presently focussing are as follows - Machine Translation (E-IL, IL-E): Cross-lingual Search: Temporal IR: Sentiment Analysis: Aspect based sentiment analysis, Sentiment analysis in Indian languages, Sentiment analysis in cross-lingual and multilingual environment, Sentiment analysis in code-mixed environment. Information Extraction: NER, Coreference Resolution, Relation Extraction etc. AI and Machine Learning for Health Care: NER, Patient Data De-identification, Code Normalization, Parsing . Deep Learning for NLP: NER, Coreference Resolution, Relation Extraction etc. Bioinformatics: Gene expression data clustering, Micro-RNA classification, Biclustering of gene expression data, Gene selection, Protein-Protein Interaction. Text Mining in Biomedical/Biochemical Texts: NER, Relation Extraction, Coreference resolution. Clustering: Multi-objective clustering, Multiview classification and clustering.   • Department of Computer Science & Engineering is organizing a workshop on Computer Networking and CCIE Security. This workshop focuses on security of computing systems and CCIE Security. This Cisco CCIE Security certification recognizes individuals who have expert-level knowledge and skills to implement, maintain, and support extensive Cisco Network Security Solutions using the latest Cisco Security products and security best practices. The workshop will be held from 22nd to 23rd October 2016 at Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Patna. The workshop team is NSSIT, UAE/Inspire Cyber Solutions.  

  • Four IMPRINT project proposals, involving CSE department faculties, have been accepted for funding. Notably only 10% of the submitted proposals have been finally selected in three stages over last six months. Our heartiest congratulations to Dr. Arijit Mondal, Dr. Asif Ekbal, Dr. Rajiv Misra and Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya on the selection of their IMPRINT project proposals. The title of the project proposals are as follows-

    • Title SmartWeather: Location based Deep weather event prediction using spatial big data computing (involving Dr. Rajiv Misra)
    • Title- Speech Based Patient Assistance System (involving Dr. Asif Ekbal and Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya)

  • Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Patna is organizing 6th International Symposium on Embedded Computing & System Design (ISED) with the help of Electrical Engineering Department from 15th to 17th December 2016.   • Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Patna has organized a Two Day WorkShop on Big Data Analytics using Hadoop from 20th-21st August 2016. Along with the theoretical sessions, some practical sessions were also held. The instructors were Dr. Sourangshu Bhattacharya (Assistant Professor, IIT Kgp), Mr. Himanshu Gupta (Technical Team Member, IBM Research India) and Mr. Nishant M. Gandhi (Serendio Software Private Limited).
