7.7.4 Performance Highlights

7.7.4.1 The company achieved best ever urea production of 36.36 LMT during 
2013-14 surpassing previous best of 34.32 LMT achieved during 2004-05. This record production of Urea also includes ever best Neem Coated Urea (NCU) production of 12.66 LMT.

7.7.4.2 The Company has registered best ever urea sale of 36.87 LMT including 12.66 LMT of NCU) during 2013-14.

7.7.4.3 NFL has achieved ever highest sales of Bio-fertilizers to the tune of 538 MT.

7.7.4.4 Industrial products (inclusive of Bio-Fertilizers) of worth Rs. 53 crore were sold during 2013-14. Turnover of traded Agri products (Compost, Seeds, Bentonite Sulphur Pesticides) was Rs. 37 crore in 2013-14.

7.7.4.5 The Company registered a sales turnover of Rs. 8062 crore during 2013-14 against Rs. 6758 crore during 2012-13. During April to December 2014, sales turnover was Rs. 6965 crore.

7.7.4.6 During April – December 2014, company sold 29.00 LMT of Urea.

7.7.5.2 Redressal of Public Grievances and Welfare Measures

Company has framed a ‘Grievance Redressal Procedure’ for its employees on the basis of model grievance procedure notified by DPE and its objective is to provide easily accessible machinery for expeditious settlement of grievances, thus leading to increased satisfaction on the job, improved productivity and efficiency of the organization. Public Grievances Cells have been set up at unit level.

 

7.7.5.2.1 Welfare of Minorities

The organization believes in equality of all communities and follows all Govt. regulations on empowerment of minorities such as representation of the minority communities on interview boards.

 

 

7.7.5.2.2 Welfare, Development and Empowerment of Women

Female employees comprise 5.46% of the total workforce of the Company. The Company’s Chairperson Managing Director is female. The Company has adopted adequate measures to facilitate a congenial work atmosphere for its women employees. There is no instance of any Gender inequality and both men and women employees are enjoying equal rights. The working atmosphere is very cordial and harmonious. Further, a Complaint Committee has been constituted to inquire into the complaints of sexual harassment in National Fertilizers Limited. NFL Employees (Conduct, Discipline Appeal) Rules and Standing Orders have also been amended to include sexual harassment of women at workplace as ‘Misconduct’

7.7.5.2.3 Welfare of SCs STs

An Implementation Cell is already functional in all Units / Offices of the Company to oversee the implementation of Presidential Directives on Reservation Policy for SCs/STs. Liaison Officer has been appointed in each Unit/Office to ensure due compliance of orders and instructions pertaining to reservation for SC/ST and other concessions admissible to them. The Liaison Officer normally belongs to Middle/Senior Management level.

Meetings are periodically held at Unit level as well as at corporate level with the SC/ST Welfare Associations by the Management for discussing and redressing issues related to SC/ST employees. As a mark of respect to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, his birth anniversary and Parinirvan Diwas were observed at all Units/Offices of the Company in a befitting manner. A stadium at Bathinda Unit, Multi-purpose Hall at Vijaipur Unit and one Bhawan at Panipat Unit have been named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Programme on implementation of Presidential Directives is held at Units from time to time and SC/ST employees are deputed for such programmes conducted by external agencies.

7.7.5 Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development (CSR/SD)

The company has incurred an expenditure of Rs. 76 lakh towards CSR activities during 2013-14. The CSR activities undertaken by NFL during the year are as under:

7.7.5.1 Children Education

7.7.5.1.1 Provided school furniture, water cooler, ceiling fans swings etc. in a Govt. primary school in a village Raghav Nagar, Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttrakhand.

7.7.5.1.2 Provided 86 benches and 1 RO system for safe drinking water supply in a secondary school at village Gill Patti, district Bathinda.

7.7.5.1.3 Assistance in construction of Auditorium cum gallery class room in Betnoti College Betnoti, and a science laboratory at Badshahi College in Mayurbhanj, which is a backward district of Odisha.

7.7.5.1.4 Provided assistance in construction of class rooms at B.C High School Kasafal, Balasore and girls hostel with toilets at Aurobindo College, district Mayurbhanj, Odisha through GraminVikas Trust (GVT Kribhco).

7.7.5.1.5 Provided computer computer training to school children/Youth of village Torni, district Khandwa, M.P.

7.7.5.2 Women empowerment

7.7.5.2.1 Constructed a multipurpose Mahila Mandal Bhawan in village Bella Dhyani, Nangal.

7.7.5.2.2 Conducted Skill Development Training Program for 30 girls on stitching and embroidery in 3 nearby villages of Nangal unit by M/s NITCON, Chandigarh.

7.7.5.2.3 Conducted Stitching training program and provided one sewing machine each to 30 women trainees of village Gill Patti, district Bathinda. Similar training was also given to 20 women of village Raghav Nagar, Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttrakhand,

7.7.5.2.4 Provided assistance in construction of a multipurpose community centre and Mother Teresa Club at block Betnoti district Mayurbhanj through GVT.

7.7.5.1 Promotion of non- conventional energy resources

7.7.5.1.1 Installed Solar street lights with new LED lamps at various places of village Torni, district Khandwa, MP.

7.7.5.1.2 Installed solar water heating system and Solar lights at Prashanti Old age home at Srikakulam AP.

7.7.5.1.3 Installed 10 nos. Solar Street lights in village Gill Patti, Bathinda and 20 nos. street lights in Nangalkheri, GarhiBesik, GoylaKhurd and Khoikipur villages of district Panipat.

7.7.5.1.4 A sum of `3.37 lakh was provided through GVT towards relief various rehabilitation activities in Odisha after ‘Phailen’ cyclone.

7.7.6 During 2014-15, following CSR activities have been taken up:

7.7.6.1 Skill development programmes at Nangal wherein three months training program for women on beauty culture, tie dye, embroidery painting.

7.7.6.2 Installation of 100 solar street lights distribution of 714 solar lanterns to each household in 4 remote villages of district TehriGarhwal, Uttrakhand through UREDA.

7.7.6.3 Under SwachhVidyalya Campaign, a part of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” initiative, following has been taken up:

7.7.6.3.1 Construction of 20 blocks of girls toilets in the identified schools in District Roopnagar, Punjab.

7.7.6.3.2 Construction of 20 nos. girls toilets including hand pump boring facility in four girl schools through ZilaShiksha Kendra, Guna.

7.7.6.3.3 Construction of 10 nos. of toilets (Nine girls and one boys toilet) in Badnawar block of District Dhar, M.P., through Zila Shiksha Kendra.

7.7.7 Sustainable Development:

7.7.7.1 NFL has taken various initiatives in adopting best practices for environment management, energy conservation and social upliftment leading to sustainable development.

7.7.7.2 Use of cleaner and greener fuel

7.7.7.2.1 One of the major milestones achieved by NFL in this direction is switchover of all its fuel oil feedstock plants at Nangal, Panipat and Bathinda, to Natural Gas (NG), the cleaner and energy efficient fuel. With this initiative, Company’s 100% urea production is now based on gas as feedstock. In addition to above, specific energy consumption has also come down by more than 20 %.

7.7.7.2.1 NFL has also switched over the support fuel in the coal fired boilers at Panipat, Bathinda Nangal to NG from fuel oil. This has eliminated use of costly fuel oil besides improving reliability and reducing carbon footprint.

7.7.7.2.2 100 KW Solar Power Plant at Corporate Office has been commissioned on 12-08-2014 is under satisfactory operation. Also, 90 KW Solar Power Plant at Bathinda Unit has been installed in December 2014. Setting up of large scale Solar Power Plants with capacity of 2 MW at Nangal, 2 MW each at Bathinda Panipat units and 40 MW at Vijaipur unit is being planned.

7.7.8 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)

7.7.8.1 NFL has signed the MoU for 2014-15 with Department of Fertilizers, which is the 25th year of the Company under MoU system. The Company has been awarded Excellent rating for the last 12 years in a row from 2000-01 to
2011-12. MoU rating for the fiscal year 2013-14 was “Very Good” since projects undertaken by the Company were under commissioning and post stabilization stage affecting the production performance of the Company.

7.7.8 Awards Accolades received during 2013-14

7.7.8.1. Panipat unit received“National Safety Award (Runner-Up)” for the performance year 2011, from DGFASLI under Ministry of Labour Employment. The Award was presented
