IMU Navi Mumbai Campus (erstwhile Training Ship Chanakya) is the premier
Maritime Institute of India. Our vision is to inspire and shape the marine world by
providing excellent maritime education and training. On 5th April 1993, T.S.
Chanakya, India’s first shore-based training academy, got established for officers
affiliated with Mumbai University.
With the establishment of the Indian Maritime University on 14th November 2008,
T.S. Chanakya came under its banner.
The following programs are being offered in IMU- Navi Mumbai Campus (T. S. Chanakya):
- Three years B.Sc. (Nautical Sciences) degree Course
- One-year Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS).
- Advance Fire Fighting Course.
- GMDSS Course.
- ECDIS Course
In addition to the above, the following are the Basic Safety training courses for inhouse cadets:
- Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting.
- Personal Safety & Social Reasonability.
- Personal Survival Technique.
- Elementary First Aid.
- Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STSDSD).
The training programme is designed, to inculcate “Officer like Qualities” and a higher sense of discipline amongst the cadets. Physical training is an essential part of the
curriculum to keep them fit, to undertake the tough and adventurous career at sea
and ashore alike.
Academics are at the forefront of the training regime, with due care and diligence given to the continued facilitation of amenities.
IRS awarded the campus Grade "A1" during the CIP inspection in October 2021. Presently we have 540 cadets on campus.
