IMU has MOUs with reputed foreign universities/institutes aiming for international cooperation. Post-November 2008, Kochi Campus was set up at Kochi in 2009. The IMU Kochi campus is located on a sprawling 10-acre campus in Willingdon Island, Kochi. With its rich maritime background, the port city of Kochi promises the excellent potential for the Maritime institution to offer specialized maritime courses and training. The campus's infrastructure boasts an administrative-cum-academic building, hostel building, workshop-cum-simulator building, auditorium, basic marine workshop, etc. The campus has plans to develop the essential infrastructure for futuristic academic programs. The objective of the university/campus is to facilitate and promote maritime studies, training, research, and extension work with a focus on emerging areas of studies like maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields.

Furthermore, to achieve excellence in these related fields and other matters connected in addition to that. Kerala has been the Maritime gateway to South India with a very long coastline. Kochi, the queen of the Arabian Sea placed along this coastline, has always kept its doors open to the maritime industry. The Smart City of Kochi enjoys a rich maritime history. It is home to maritime establishments such as the Cochin Port Trust, Cochin Shipyard Limited, the Indian Navy's Southern Naval Command, the International Container Trans-shipment Terminal, and other ancillary industries supporting the maritime sector, including the shipbuilding and repair industry and maritime education. Establishing the IMU Kochi Campus will significantly promote the maritime sector and the country's economy. The campus currently conducts Under-Graduate courses in Nautical Science and Business Administration as well as Post Graduate courses and Ph.D. programs in Maritime Management. The Kochi campus plans to expand its academic horizon into Maritime Law, Post Sea Marine Courses, Multi/Interdisciplinary Graduate, Post Graduate, and Research programs related to the maritime sector. In the coming years, IMU Kochi aims to position itself among the world's foremost academic institutions in Maritime Education, make its presence felt across the world, and support the maritime economic endeavors of the country. As we move forward to transform this vision into reality, we will create endless opportunities for students, teachers, researchers, industries, and more in the coming years. I welcome you to join us in this exciting journey.
