Education
At present the Department is involved in teaching postgraduate (MD); undergraduate (MBBS), B.Sc. (Nursing) and M.Sc. (Nursing); B.Sc. (Hons) Paramedical Courses. For Gross Anatomy teaching, the department has embalming facility, cadaver storage tanks and mortuary cooler for cold storage of cadavers. There is Gross anatomy museum with sufficient number of specimens of human body parts/models/charts, 2 demonstration rooms and 1 seminar room. For microscopic anatomy there is UG histology laboratory. Both formative and summative assessments are held periodically to evaluate the students. Clinically oriented learning is emphasised by organising horizontal and vertical integration lectures and seminars in association with other Departments. The acquisition of skills are tested periodically by conducting objective structured practical examination (OSPE) during the medical teaching.

For Postgraduate research we have an up to date histology lab with immunohistochemistry set up. We have set up a state-of-the-art Cytogenetic Laboratory with Karyotyping and FISH (Fluorescence in situ hybridization) facilities to provide diagnostic and genetic counselling services to the patients of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. The Department has already installed CO2 incubator, Biosafety cabinet for the cytogenetic laboratory.
