Message from Head of the Department/Division:
I consider it a privilege to be leading a department which has a team of dedicated health care professionals who give patient care utmost priority and at the same time excel in providing quality academics and research. The department has grown in strength since its inception in 2013 with one Faculty. Now, it has 8 Faculty members who are ably supported by a team of Senior and Junior Residents. The department has provided many patient friendly initiatives like prompt Emergency care, inclusive OPD care with day care, inclusive IPD care with bedside invasive procedures and rapid emergency care, Special clinics on Rheumatology and Geriatric medicine, Telemedicine facility, Swasthya app based care, eSanjeevani OPD consultation, bedside delivery of diagnostic aids, administration of advanced biologicals for rheumatological diseases, patient training initiatives, etc. The department provides close to 1000 teaching hours per MBBS batch and has a quality PG teaching curriculum. The curriculum is competency based, with newer methods of teaching-learning, and more integration of basic sciences. Assessment of students (UG & PG) are done at regular intervals following updated methods. The department considers Research as an integral part of its activities. It has Extramural Multicentric projects to its credit, and at the same time all Faculty members have Intramural projects running. The department has many publications in Indexed journals. Reputed Guests have delivered Lectures to the department. The department also provides Public health initiatives like Programmes on Television, print media, Public talk, and Health camps.
The department plans to start new courses like Fellowships and DM in the near future. Expansion of Inpatient care with addition of beds and equipment is also on top priority. It will be my endeavour to enable my team to scale greater heights in the near future.
