ABOUT HOSTEL

The Director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar is the highest authority who oversees the functioning of the hostel. There are six undergraduate hostels and four post graduate hostels. One more new hostel building is under construction and will be handed over soon. Senior & junior residents (both academic & nonacademic), MBBS students, Ph.D. scholars, Nursing (B. Sc & M. Sc) and Paramedical students reside in the hostels. To supervise the hostels section, faculty members are selected by the Director to work in the capacity of the superintendent and deputy superintendents. The superintendent of the hostels is the overall in-charge of the hostel. Wardens, junior wardens and caretakers look after the day-to-day functioning of the hostel. Our campus is a ragging free zone & the Institutional Antiaging committee looks after this aspect.

Round the clock security with CCTV surveillance & housekeeping services are provided in all the hostels. There are two dining halls with dedicated staff, nutritious menu with variety to provide food to the hostel inmates. Facilities for various indoor and outdoor games, playgrounds, well-equipped gymnasium and other recreational activities are available in hostel campus.

The hostel infrastructure is fastened with amenities like 24 hour power supply, water availability, clean and hygienic environment, spacious and comfortable rooms, clean toilets, periodic disinfection of building and activity room.

Comforts are important but they are not enough. Man is a social animal and needs to interact with others. The resident students are encouraged to participate in so many cultural and social activities round the year. Colourful evenings of songs and dances and various recreational activities are organised in the campus. Talent shows, dramatics and literary events are organized from time to time. The inmates of hostel are encouraged to live in harmony, alike one big family, offering each other a helping hand whenever required. Mutual cooperation is to make hostel life a rich and fruitful experience.

It is my pleasure and honour to be the Chief Hostel Superintendent (Chairman of the Hostel Committee) of this esteem institution, AIIMS Bhubaneswar.  I thank the Director for giving me this opportunity & responsibility to look after the students who are the pride of our institution.

The hostel life is a union of diverse cultures and different upbringings, which blends into a harmony for a rich and memorable experience. We provide the atmosphere where they can learn, laugh and live to the fullest. The wardens and caretakers ensure that the students get a clean, green and relaxed atmosphere. We promote sustainable green environment & ecosystem inside the hostel premises.

It gives us mammoth inclination to welcome you all to be a part of AIIMS Bhubaneswar family that strives to provide students a homely and healthy atmosphere with complete safety and security in the hostel. We not only take efforts to provide our students a neat and clean environment and a comfortable place to live in, but encourage them to live in discipline. We understand discipline is the key to success and career building, hence we promote self-discipline among students.

Living in a hostel presupposes high degree of integrity, mindfulness, cooperation, open-mindedness and hard work for a bright future and good image of the institution. It also becomes the highest obligation & responsibility of all residents that they must keep the AIIMS hostel free from Polythene, Alcohol, Smoking  & Drug abuse to ensure pollution free environment and refrain themselves to be part of any unlawful act including ragging to avoid any severe disciplinary action.
