The Department of Pharmacology was started in the year 2013 under the headship of Professor Debasish Hota. The department offers training in Basic and Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. This training enables students to acquire skills in research, regulatory, industrial, and healthcare delivery. The department has highly qualified and motivated faculty in diverse areas of Pharmacology, fulfilling the AIIMS mandate of teaching, research, and patient care.  The department’s research activities focus mainly in the area of Pain, Neuropsychopharmacology, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacometrics, and Artificial Intelligence. The department enables opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration between various allied departments both inside and outside the institute. The department provides therapeutic drug monitoring services for patient care and manages the Pharmacovigilance and Materiovigilance units.
